After reading ad nausea the patent that they have slammed Neste with, it is more of a PCM patent.
Furthermore, a recent email with Gary Roth fits more with them moving toward PCM given the March final product report. It all is making sense now and the PCM board would be profitable immediately without waiting on the RFS and credits.
Fraunhofer?s report will be included in our final project report in March 2013. During the last quarter we successfully produced prototypes of extruded PCM sheets (70% paraffin, 30% HDPE). DSC results show that these 1 mm thick sheets have the same heat of fusion as the pellets (>100 J/g). The sheet form is considered to offer installation advantages in a number of building construction/retrofit applications. We are presently completing our final report which will include the results on evaluation of the PCM sheet, as well as modeling results on optimum insulation systems containing dispersed PCM pellets, and ORNL field test results. This report will also include plans for commercializing the PCM products based on applications that provide the shortest payback time (i.e. the greatest energy savings per pound of PCM installed).
