1)I do have a s-video on my laptop, and maybe its just me but the picture is not HD. This
device allows for infinite fine tuning of color sharpness, horizontal and vertical picture size,
and most importantly flicker reduction
2) I enjoy and use the multiple out puts that allow me to connect to any projector, vcr, tv
3) Although many laptops have them, my lap top does not have a remote(until now) that allows me to freeze, or toggle between zoom and normal display

So you just need 1 cabel connected from your lappy to your LCD tv.
Forget about blurays, you can download some HD contents and play them from your laptop via HDMI to your TV.
It's just like mp3 made the CD useless. Now's it's h.264 or VP8 encoded video although the file size is 100x bigger.
