Feel free to share your favorite tech gadgets here. This could be anything electronic or computer related. Please include a link to the product if possible and a brief description.

  • Tiny flashlight keychain - Cheap, very tiny, and bright. Perfect for every keychain. A good complement to a Swiss knife.

  • Monkey on hobby horse solar power desktop toy - Cute little money that rocks a horse when there is just some light. It even makes a tiny buzzing noise (might be annoying for some people).

  • All are free shipping from DealExtreme. It takes about 2 weeks for delivery though. Your patience will be rewarded.

Helio Ocean looks nice but I think it's going to be replaced by Iphone or Gphone. Personally, I think Gphone will eventually dominate the market due to it's open source nature and supported by the godly Google. Also, the carrier isn't well know here and I doubt I would get a good signal connection.

On the subject of computer, the new breed of computers called netbook look interesting. I am waiting for the next generation netbook with built in GPS. IMHO, that's the time to buy it because it will have everything anyone needs on the road i.e. light weight, GPS, internet access, and good battery life.

Philips DivX Dvd Player with USB 2.0

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AXBGZO/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=304485901&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000G18DR0&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0DBJSS6T3T9RWNEWFD3J

With this you dont have to burn the dvd's or divx files any more. Just download them on to your external hard disk or any external USB memory, simply plug into the dvd player and start watching the movies. I like this a lot, No more burning DVD's.

P.S: The above link is just to show the dvd player and its features, there might be websites which you can get the player for a cheaper price.

    Hi Lupin,

I recently bought a Western-Digital-WD-TV-HD-Media-Player. It's the best purchase I bought in a while and could decodes any digital format. The reason I bought it was after reading an article from Wired.

The sad thing is that yesterday I accidently plug my harddrive in the HP Home Media server and it automatically format the drive. Anyway, the picture quality is awesome.

Interesting. I have been looking at similar device a while back but not recently. Back when such device was at its infancy, the supported codec was small and there are restrictions like resolution size, subtitle support, etc.

I was planning on building my own media server from a quiet SFF PC. I guess I can take a look at this now. Thanks for the info!

This thing is awesome, it turns blue when the water is cold and red when the water is hot.

Mine turns green for some reason, i think it is broken, but still an awesome gadget!!

Interesting. But I would say it's kinda useless maybe interesting to show off a friend or two but not much practicality.

I have to say the color makes the water look like some kind of juice.

Fantastically simple and cheap PC to tv box. No software, powered by laptop usb. Works on virtually any tv or VCR(svideo, component video, standard composite RCA outputs). Works absolutely perfectly, stunning full screen picture. I use it for playing torrent downloads or Julu.
Comes with remote, and obviously, extremely portable. I bought mine at Radio Shack for a little less than the $99 the web site charges. Highly recommend (a wireless version is available with Audio, but not the bargain this is).

Isn't this kinda outdated? You can just upgrade or get a video card that has component or SVGA out... better yet, HDMI or the new display port. I hate to say this but this is not slick at all.

On the similar topic, there are these new boxes that reads your network via wifi and plays media files like pictures, h.264, divx, etc and plays it on your LCD TV. Now that's pretty cool.
