So Cal Dude: There are several bearish builder REIT ETF'S, but if they squeeze, you are going to be getting margin calls. Directly, there are also a hand full of builders you can short, i.e. TOL, DHI, HOV, etc. Be careful, and go slow!

Inexperienced newbie needs help with shorting the U.S. housing market??? Hi there, I am convinced that the U.S. housing market is going to collapse again, I am not posting here to debate whether or not that will actually occur. I would like to find an ETF or MF that has a short strategy in regards to the (residential) housing market, if any exist at all. I found a couple of ETF's online and they scared me off because they sounded like a "day trade" according to the description. I would like to find something that I might hold and monitor for 6 months or more. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated because I'm considering investing a good chunk of $.

Thanks!
