When you sign into Thinkorswim, it gives you the option to trade live or via paper. Just toggle the paper to use the platform without using actual money. I’d suggest watching a few YouTube videos on how to use the platform.
Word of warning regarding the Pit. I’ve been around a long time. There are some really talented traders there. But I also see people who post a stock as a strong buy, will watch as it drops and drops and drops, say more than 30%. Then it’ll pop up 5% and the same posters will break out the “BOOM, see, I told you so!” It can be rather amusing, and sometimes a bit sad. But yes, you are correct. Most times the train has already left the station by the time the average watcher here gets around to buying.

Thanks I also have TD Ameritrade, and the ThinkorSwim platform but haven't figured out how to use it yet. I am being cautious and in the Pit most of the day trying to figure out what people are doing. It looks like most stocks peak out by the time a post is made about it.
When you say papertrading is this just practice without using real money? I'll need to check that out. Thinkorswim seems very complicated but I'll have to figure it out.
