|Selling Stocks and its Settlement Time...|
I'm a complete newb to stocks and just learning at the moment.
I have a couple of basic questions regarding the deeper mechanics of the internal system...
1. When you sell shares (which you own), who are you actually selling it to?
Are you selling it back to the company or to another investor?
2. I heard that it takes 2 days to settle a transaction.
Does that mean that after I sell shares, the money is still not mine until 2 days later?
Who's responsible for those shares during the 2 day period.
What happens if I buy shares. Does it still take 2 days to become mine?
Appreciate the help with the mechanics.
