Re: List of Obama Achievements---and some failures.
Generally agree with your list. However, the Iraq war was scheduled under Bush to end when it did. The Fed saved the banks, not Obama.
I would add to his list of failures:
1. Continuation of Patriot Act. 2. Continuation of signing statements that he opposed. 3. Taking down websites without due process. 4. Authorization to kill US citizens suspected of terrorism without due process.
1. the stock market has doubled since he took office 2. al kaeda decimated bin laden killed 3. arab spring leads to growing democracy in mideast 4. saved the banks 5. saved the us auto industry---and prevented associated apocalyptic job loss 6. ended iraq war 7. cut more taxes for more citizens than predecessor 8. tepid but steady improvement on jobs 9. increased drones sorties 800% making it a centerpiece of us war effort
all pretty much unassailable in my mind
now the failures
1. still reliant on foreign oil 2. housing hasnt turned as a result rates continue to be punitive to savers to benefit the banks---this is effectively a tax on savers 3. the admin has not mounted any effective prosecution for the crimes at the heart of the fin crisis--not a single one--by comparison the saving and loan crisis led to thousands of successful prosecutions 4. the banks instead of being broken up as threats to the financial system they have grown even more powerful 5. congress remains bought and paid for by wall st---recent supreme court decision removing campaign prohibitions mean it will only get worse 6. the country that is able to reduce their fuel costs to nothing via renewables will own the 21st century---you dont have to dig up wind or sunlight---alternately there is no commodity to sell...which is why the energy companies fear it so---the admin has been stymied halted by failure corruption and propaganda---they bear the burden for no result
